Our mission statement:

The Black Press is a journalistic group that focuses on bringing a positive light to the African American community not only on campus but in the city of Houston. This association is an extension of the national chapter that provides an outlet to connect college black journalists and media students to the field with connections in Houston and strengthen journalistic skills through highlighting our black community as well as giving back to the community. We are known as the "Black Press." This will also give black students at UH internships and possible job opportunities. This semester we are working towards being an affiliate chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists and this is the start of that journey.
