Today Curry Goudeaux talked with Marquis Lewis, aspiring photographer and senior here on campus on his business Quest Vizi Media. A fun fact shared by Marquez is “you can never fully master photography.” He is dedicated to learning the medium for the rest of his career like many before him. Marquis specializes in lifestyle photography and enjoys creative freedom above all when shooting.
Lewis’ first source of inspiration was music. “Cover arts have always been something I've favored because they have to embody the tone and stylistic choices the musician presents,” says Lewis. He is a true talent with a passion for photography.
Framing Black faces
As a black business owner Lewis says his job is to capture moments of us being authentically black. “No fabricated story or false narrative.” this is his contribution to black communities in Houston.
Powerful poses
This October QVM is shooting graduating Cougars! All students dream of the day they take grad pics, it's the unofficial final act for most graduates. Lewis admits to doubting his work in the beginning. Lewis is a tribe and tested photographer but no doubt, he can deliver a high quality product.
When asked about how he takes his powerful pictures he responded:
“My equipment rundown varies shoot to shoot, usually I'm on a lower grade camera with a great lens. A Sony a6000 is my personal preference right now with a prime lens of 30mm. it's very interchangeable with shots. For fashion and campaigns, I use an A7iii for a crisper look.”
