China is Spying on Us and Lying About It

On January 28th, 2023, there was an unidentified object spotted entering the U.S. airspace territory near Alaska that sparked U.S. officials' attention, due to no prior knowledge of what it could be. Since there was no idea of the object's origin or purpose, The U.S. Defense Department kept a close look and monitored the object as it drifted closer unto U.S. territory. There was no immediate action taken place on its initial discovery due to the mystery of the objects capability, along with it not posing an immediate threat.

By February 2nd, the object was identified as a balloon and was further shot down on February 4th, pictured to the left, as it hovered the coast of South Carolina. The spy balloon was then measured to have a comparable height to the Statue of Liberty at 200 feet tall. Once the balloon was recovered and examined, there was a discovery of ‘high tech equipment that could collect communication signals and other sensitive information.’

According to government officials, the equipment used on the balloon was ‘clearly for intelligence surveillance’, and that it included ‘multiple antennas’ that were ‘likely capable of collecting and geo-locating communications’. Once video footage was released of the balloon, there were small motors and multiple propellers found that allowed China to actively steer and maneuver the balloon over multiple locations.

The irony of the entire situation is that Chinese officials blatantly lied about the purpose of the balloon, recounting that the balloon was for weather forecast and ‘regrets the unintended entry’. Given their explanation to be true, why would there need to be multiple antennas and equipment used for communication signals if this was a simple ‘weather balloon’? Along with propellers and a maneuvered motor, how could it have ‘accidentally’ traveled into our proximity? Also given China’s history, there have been multiple attempts at Chinese surveillance on the U.S. using Artificial Intelligence and Microchips, even TikTok.

All in all, it’s not a far-fetched conclusion to acknowledge that China has ulterior motives outside of weather predictions; the only true question left is, what are they planning to do?

Do you think China has ulterior motives?

  • Oh yes definitely!

  • No...not really?

  • Who knows!?
