Meet the court

Last night the University of Houston Homecoming Court was announced at the Student Center Plaza. Here we will be introducing you to the black candidates!


This is also a reminder to not only vote for your favorite homecoming candidate, but also in early Registration! Make your voice heard, on campus and in the world.


This year we have six people in multiple black organizations running, ladies first!


For your Queens you have:


Asa Lewis

Asa Lewis is running for Homecoming Queen representing Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She is a Psychology major with a Business Administration and Human Development and Family Science minor. On campus, Asa was a family and guest director for the orientation team as well as a resident advisor, but is currently a community mentor and a part of the Collegiate 100. She ran alongside Quindon with their campaign titled #leadingwithlove.


Jane Onuoha

Jane Onuoha is a Senior at UH who is in the Honors college with a double major in Philosophy and Strategic Communications. She is endorsed and a member of the Nigerian Student Association, Public Relations Society of America, African Student Union, Pre-Law Society, and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated. She is also a part of the UH Student Housing Marketing team and the NAACP Secretary.


Laura Bere

Laura Bere is endorsed by Houston Young Life College, an organization she has been a part of for four years. She ran alongside Navid Hasan, who is also on the court, with their campaign Impact & Inclusion.

Quindon Bowers

Quindon Bowers is running for Homecoming King representing Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated. He is a Marketing Entrepreneurship major. On campus, he is a guest director, resident advisor, on the orientation team, and a part of the Wolf Center for Entrepreneurship. He ran alongside Asa with their campaign #leadingwithlove.


Jake Simons III

Jake Simons III is running for Homecoming King. He represents African Student Union as the Co-Historian and Black Student Union. Outside of school Jake also makes music.


Deaunte Johnson

Deaunte Johnson is running for Homecoming King endorsed by and a member of the Student Program Board, Metropolitan Volunteer Program, CoogTV, Frontier Fiesta, UH Debate, and UH Mock Trial. They are also resident advisor, a part of the Orientation Team, and in the Honor college at UH. They ran alongside Autumn Johnson.
